I've finally decided to create a blog for myself and my art! I'm going to start IDEA in a matter of weeks, so I figured it was time to do something a bit more professional than DeviantART. This entry will be a self-guided tutorial of sorts, figuring out how to drive things. But I suppose I should briefly introduce myself.
My name is Sara. I was born in 1989 in Calgary. Two years later, my family moved to Australia. Almost 9 years after that, we came back to Canada, and I've been a Vancouverite ever since. I've loved drawing for as long as I can remember. Once I'd picked up that orange pencil and dragged it across a spare sheet of A4, I knew there was no going back. I actually decided I wanted to do art for a living when I was 9. We were passing by the Eiffel Tower at night one summer, and as I looked at it, I told my Mum, "I want to paint that!" Unfortunately, I haven't done as much painting as I'd like. Traditionally, in any case.
Mostly I've been working with pencils, pens, coloured pencils, and markers. I have a tablet and a (slightly primitive) version of Photoshop to create digital paintings with, as well. As I mentioned, a lot of the work I've been doing has been posted onto my DeviantART site. However, this blog will focus on what I create in the IDEA program, as well works I've done within the past year. If you'd like to see my older works, don't be afraid to ask!
Now, I suppose you'd like to see something I've done recently, no? Let's see if I can get it up here. . .
This is a tarot card design I did for a friend's birthday. I usually use alot of symbolism in my work. (In this case, I used The Hanged Man, The Fool, and The Moon cards for inspiration.) This took about 6 days, all with traditional media.
That's probably enough for one day. If anybody else has a blog who's going into IDEA, let me know!
Until next time,
Until next time,
Sara
